Secaucus School District to partner with Columbia University's Teachers College Beginning in the 2019-2020 school year, the Secaucus School District will partner with Teachers College, Columbia University, to offer our K-2 students the Teachers College Writing Program. Both Huber Street and Clarendon Schools were accepted as “partner schools” with the program, receiving priority professional development opportunities for our teachers throughout the school year. Administrators from our district will participate in the highly renowned week-long summer institutes to become familiar with the program and learn how to assess teacher implementation. All K-2 teachers in the district will be utilizing the Units of Study in writing as part of a comprehensive writing curriculum updated this summer by specialists in the district.
1st Grade News Miss Herrmann's 1st Grade class enjoyed participating in a "Flat Teacher Adventures" assignment throughout the month of June! They had a blast taking their teacher along with them on various adventures. Students took many pictures and wrote stories about all of the fun they had with Miss Herrmann! ❤️👩🏻🏫📝
1st Grade News Mrs. Knapp’s first graders celebrated their last google meet with a virtual beach day! They dressed in their favorite beach outfit 🏖 👙 🩳 ☀️ 😎 and enjoyed a snack while watching an end of the year slideshow! 💫 🌟 🤩
1st Grade News Mrs. Knapp’s first graders enjoyed participating in a “Flat Teacher Adventure Assignment.” 🍎 👩🏻🏫 Some of the adventures included bringing “FLAT Mrs. Knapp” to the beach, gardening, playing legos, virtual school and celebrating a birthday! ☀️🏖 🌸 🧩 ✏️ 🥳 Students took pictures and wrote stories about their adventures with their teacher! 📸
Kindergarten News Mrs. Jaramillo’s kindergarteners have been testing their knowledge of force by building ramps and kites.
Kindergarten News Ms. Lamatina's class did another Home Scavenger Hunt as they learned about the letter Bb. Students had 15 minutes to search their house for things like a book, a bowl, something brown, black, and blue, and a bunny or bear. The students and their families had a great time participating in this activity!
Updated School Closing and Elementary Distance Learning Plan (click here) Dear Secaucus School District Families, Mayor Gonnelli and Superintendent Montesano met as a team with the COVID-19 Secaucus task force and decided, as a precautionary measure, the Secaucus School District will be closed from Monday, March 16th through Friday, April 3rd. During these days, students do not report to school. Please be advised that Virtual Learning will begin for ALL students on Monday, March 16th. The district’s distance learning plan can be accessed through both the district and town websites. All student activities and clubs are cancelled during this time. The free and reduced lunch program will continue and all eligible families will be contacted with additional information. Please remember to check your email as well as the town and district websites daily for any updates. Also all students/parents have received a join code for their teacher's Google Classroom through e-mail. Using your child's "students.sboe.org" google email address, you will be required to log-on to the Google Classroom each day to receive the student's assignment and inform the teacher through a discussion feed that the student is present.
