Clarendon School Fourth Graders Tour the Statehouse and Meet with Assembly Speaker Vincent Prieto The fourth grade classes from Clarendon School visited the Statehouse in Trenton as a culminating activity to their study of the State of New Jersey. While at the Statehouse, the fourth graders were invited into the General Assembly by Assembly Speaker Vincent Prieto. The Speaker addressed the fourth graders on the floor of the General Assembly and afterwards fielded questions from his enthusiastic audience. The Statehouse visit was an enjoyable field trip and a cherished memory for the fourth graders.

CLARENDON PTA ANNUAL FOUNDER'S DAY MEETING Founder’s Day is when we honor the founding members of the PTA and have a small candle ceremony and also hand out the annual PTA LIFETIME MEMBER AWARD. This years recipients were Steve Viggiani, Principal for 3 year of Clarendon School who has spent his enitire career in the Secaucus school district. Also awarded was Mrs. Tara Rich, who was the former PTA President of Clarendon School. Tara was PTA President for two years and also PTA Treasurer for 2 years. As entertainment this year, music teacher, Mrs. Susan Redvanly led the entire kindergarten in a wonderful performance! We had many parents in attendance it was a lovely and successful meeting.
Technology News The Clarendon students were so excited to celebrate Read Across America by working on the Dr. Suessville interactive educational website during computer time.
100th Day of School The students in Mrs. Ortiz's reading and Languages arts classes are not only leaning how to read with fluency, intonation, decode, comprehend and write 3-5 paragraph essays, they are also learning about empathy. Helping other children make it to another birthday is an important lesson.Working together is also an ongoing theme in Mrs. Ortiz's classroom.On the 100th day of school students worked together to build a new 100 cup structure and they also had to decide what to do with $100. Many decided to donate it to the sick children of St Jude Research Hospital. Cheers to 100 days of learning!
